Naaraan vaativalla huudolla on syynsä. Jos koiras ei saa kalastettua hyvin kalaa, sei ei ehkä kykene ruokkimaan poikasia, kun sen aika on. Niinpä naaraan on valittava hyvä kalastaja parikseen. Kalatiirat ovat useimmiten pariuskollisia ja voivat elää jopa 30-vuotiaiksi.

The female's demanding cries have a reason. If the male is not able to fish well, he may not be able to feed the chicks when the time comes. Therefore, the female must choose a good fisher as her mate. Common terns are usually loyal to their partners and can live up to 30 years.

Today's stop and discovery point was #CamberSands, near #Rye, at the estuary mouth of the River Rother. On a day like today, warm, cloudless, and a slight south-easterly wind blowing, it was fabulous. Added bonus - almost empty.👍
A first again for both of us, the only stretch of pure sandy beach along the south coast until #TheWitterings, near #Chichester

A further bonus was being able to spot a common tern, a little tern, and a sandwich tern between the dunes and the water's edge.
