Kurki- ja laulujoutsenparin pesäntekoa lähekkäin – A pair of cranes and whooper swans are building nests close to each other
Molemmat parit (oletan, että samat linnut, kun ovat reviiriuskollisia) pesivät viime vuonnakin aika lähekkäin, nyt vielä lähempänä (ehkä 20 m). Näitä laulujoutsenia ei tosiaan tunnu kurjet häiritsevän, kun sen sijaan hanhet ja muut joutsenet häädetään äkäisesti. Kurjet ovat löytäneet kosteikon vasta muutama vuosi sitten ja tänä vuonna on toinen pesintä. Oli mukava seurata molempien parien haudontaa, ja miten ne vaihtoivat haudontavuoroja sekä huolehtivat pesän kunnosta. Siinä, kun joutsenilla on iso pesäkeko, kurjilla on aika lättänä korsi- ja kasvikasa.

Both pairs (I assume the same birds, as they are territorial) nested quite close to each other last year as well, now even closer (maybe 20 m). These whooper swans really don't seem to be bothered by cranes, but geese and other swans are fiercely chased away. The cranes have found the wetland only a few years ago and this year there is a second nesting. It was nice to watch the incubation of both pairs, and how they changed incubation shifts and took care of the condition of the nest. While the swans have a large nest pile, the cranes have a pretty flat pile of straw and plants.
