There is an old saying that records are made to be broken. Also. there are a few examples of records no one thought would be broken: . Collingwood's Gordon Coventry's 1299 goals through 1937. It would have been 1300 but his last kick was only a point. Enter Tony Lockett who broke the record with 1300 in 1999. Ironically, that record-breaking goal came against Collingwood. He retired at the end of that year with 1357 goals. He made a brief return in 2002 and added three more goals to finish with 1360 goals Melbourne recruited the late Hall of Fame player Jim Stynes from Ireland in 1987. He went on to be one of Melbourne's greatest and durable players and played in 244 consecutive games. A testament to his determination and durability is the fact that he overcame a serious rib fracture in 1993 and a medial ligament tear in 1994. His streak came to an end due to a broken finger and he finished his carerr with 264 games played in total. Among his legacies though has been the consecutive games record. When the streak ended in 1998, Jim's brother Brian remarked that it would be a record that would never be broken.

Day 29. Stamp competition

Today’s stamp is a 45c stamp. The stamp of the Young Endeavour plays second fiddle to the envelope. The wrapper is dedicated to the unofficial religion of Australia, Australian Rules Football. Or it does to a fraction of the game. Collingwood Football Club is, how old? In 1992 it celebrated its centenary. Like it, or hate it, this team wears the colour of its mascot. The city of Collingwood is in the Inner North East of Melbourne. Once it was a city of the working class. That cannot be said today because the footy club attracts worshippers from all over.

The New Endeavour https://youngendeavour.gov.au/the-voyage/the-ship is a training ship for potential leaders. The link is included because it deserves more than a passing comment.
