Clinical Magpies Swoop on Dockers | AFANA
The Collingwood Magpies defeated the Fremantle Dockers in an entertaining game where the Dockers played attacking football but were cut to pieces by the Pies through turnovers. It was a game of the most experienced team in the the competition (Collingwood players in the team had played 3,134 games, about 150 on average), versus the least experienced (The Dockers had a combined games tally of 1704 games, about 75 on average). The Dockers had more of the ball and moved the ball into the attacking arc sixty-two times to the Magpies' thirty-four but were let down by their last kick into attack, allowing the Magpie defenders Darcy Moore and Billy Frampton, supported by a mobile Darcy Cameron, to rule the air.

Docker Bursts Stun Crows | AFANA
The Fremantle Dockers bounced back from a surprise loss to the Melbourne Demons to overcome the Adelaide Crows in Perth. The ANZAC Day (similar to Memorial Day in the USA) night match placed both teams in the national spotlight with the Dockers finding their passion to overcome the high flying Crows. The Crows had beaten the talented Greater Western Sydney Giants the previous week in a hard slog at Adelaide Oval and needed to backup their win to prove they were a threat to the competition. However, after a roasting from the local media and their coach, Justin Longmuir, the Dockers were never going to let this one slip. The home team started hot and burned the Adelaide Crows with a first term burst of aggressive hard-running football, which set up the victory that followed. Played in fine autumn conditions, the pace was ferocious with both teams using handball to clear packs and long kicking to launch attacks.

Dockers Hold Off Dogs | AFANA
The undermanned Fremantle Dockers made a statement in the fourth quarter as they held off the hard running Western Bulldogs to win their second game of the season. If games were won on statistics alone, the Dogs were the winners. The visitors had more possessions, more marks, more inside 50s (getting the ball into the attacking fifty-meter arc), more hitouts, and more contested possessions, but fell short by sixteen points. This was despite the Dockers having only one player left on the bench in the final quarter.
At the first bouncedown the temperature sat at a humid eighty-four ºF, but the pace of the match rarely slowed. The Dogs started hot and dominated most of the opening quarter by launching nineteen attacks to the Dockers' nine. The Dogs' early strength came from their clearances at stoppages and the mobility of Sam Darcy up forward. Darcy had ten possessions in the first quarter and booted two goals. The Docker defenders stood firm with Brennan Cox and Luke Ryan working well in the air and Jordan Clark supplying run or desperate play on the last line of defense.

Dockers Cruise Past Eagles | AFANA
The Fremantle Dockers cruised over the West Coast Eagles to record their first win of the year. In was a game of seventeenth versus eighteenth with both teams desperate to get a win on the board. Sadly for Eagles fans, the Eagles had no answer for the run and pressure around the ball applied by the Dockers. The Dockers won the game in the scrimmages where they got numbers to the contest and then were clean with their skills once the ball was free. The Dockers won the clearances forty to twenty-five, led by Caleb Serong (ten clearances) and Andrew Brayshaw (six). Bailey J. Williams battled hard in the ruck for West Coast, but he was beaten on the day by the Dockers' Luke Jackson who grew in strength as the game progressed.
West Coast started the game moving the ball well and seemed up to the challenge. However, early dominance on the wing by Nathan O'Driscoll put early pressure on the Eagles. O'Driscoll booted the first goal in less than thirty-five seconds and his run and long kicking troubled the Eagles in the first half of the match. Tyler Brockman and Matt Owies booted opportunistic goals to give the Eagles the lead at the ten-minute mark of the first quarter; and Liam Ryan worked some magic on the run with another opportunistic goal to have the Eagles up again after the Docker's Michael Johnson leveled the scores with a goal on the run. That was basically it for the Eagles. Docker first-gamer Isaiah Dudley booted two goals and Jy Amiss rounded off the quarter with mark (catch) and goal.
