Geelong overwhelmed Port Adelaide in a dominant second-half performance at Adelaide Oval, securing a 76-point win on Saturday. After a tightly contested opening quarter, the match spiraled out of control for the home side following a disastrous run of injuries. Five players suffered soft-tissue setbacks in the first half, including high-profile Port star Jason Horne-Francis and Geelong veteran Patrick Dangerfield. Lachie Jones, Jack Bowes, and Josh Sinn also failed to finish the game, with Sinn departing early due to a hip injury.
The Eagles finally break through in inspired match. Chris Kowald reports on the match from Perth:

The West Coast Eagles won their first game of the year at the expense of the St Kilda Saints who could not cope with the heat the Eagles brought to the contested ball. The Saints, under coach Ross Lyon, have built a name as a team that prides itself on winning the ball in tight situations. Today they were exposed by the West Coast Eagles who played the same game style. The Saints typically close the ball down in contests and when they win it, spread fast across the field to launch attacks with lightning pace.
(Ed. note: this is part of a long running series of reports on this site about concussion issues in the AFL. Click on "Concussion" at the bottom to see many more in the series from previous years.) Last week in round nine, Fremantle met Collingwood. Collingwood's Lachie Schultz was badly concussed in an attempt to tackle Docker Jordan Clark. In the attempt, his head was caught in an awkward position and collided with Clark's shoulder. Schultz brought Clark to the ground but Clark freed himself and got rid of the ball. After the tackle, play continued as Schultz lay motionless on the ground. Medical staff tended to Schultz and he tried to leave the ground but collapsed and had to be helped to the bench.
