One British woman who now lives in Germany has shared a number of things she was surprised by when arriving in her new home - including one which she said "would put most Brits in a coma". Livi, an actress from Devon, shared the culture shocks she had experienced since moving to the European country in September last year.
And one involving the dress code in saunas caught her off guard. Writing in a TikTok video, she said: "I can't take photos of this for obvious reasons, so here's a fun wooden spoon I found instead. I know the 'dress code' is the same in other European countries, but not in Britain (and I think it would put most Brits into a coma)."
One commenter asked for more information, saying: "Wait can u elaborate on the dress code in saunas? What's so different?" Livi replied: "You're naked in German saunas!"...

**No pants Penguin comedy show makes a triumphant return**

A comedian who pretends to be a penguin by performing mostly naked is trying to get on television.
That's not actually a joke - Garry Starr, the starring character in comedy show Classic Penguins, really is making a bid for the small screen.
The show picked up a string of awards including most outstanding at the 2025 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and a recent run on London's west end sold out.
It's now just a few nights into a four-week return run at the Malthouse, for Melbourne's 2026 comedy festival.
The idea behind Classic Penguins is that Starr performs all of the Penguin Classic novels in an hour, in order to save books from extinction.
He does it dressed as a penguin, or rather, undressed. Starr performs in flippers and a tuxedo jacket, but no pants - because penguins don't wear pants.
Garry Starr is the alter ego of performer Damien Warren-Smith, who studied under the late clown guru Philippe Gaulier.
Warren-Smith's team pitched a comedy series to streaming and broadcast networks earlier in March, and while he is excited about one - or possibly even three - television projects in development, his heart is in live performance.
"I love live work because there's nothing standing between me and the audience but television is a whole different beast," he says...

**Pictograms, rope and posts to deter misuse of sand dunes adjoining Bredene’s popular nudist beach**

Authorities in the West Flemish family seaside resort of Bredene have now decided more clearly to demarcate the popular local nudist beach. New signs displaying rules of conduct and pictograms have been put up, and posts with rope stretched between them mark the boundary with the adjacent nature reserve more clearly. Bredene city fathers say the measure has been taken in response to what is termed the ‘repeated misuse of the sand dunes’ behind the beach.
A section of Bredene beach, at the water’s edge, is officially designated as a nudist beach. It is Belgium's sole officially recognised nudist beach. Stretching for 4 kilometres it offers privacy as it is a secluded setting bordered by a series of protected sand dunes and not a promenade.
This is a zone where full nudity is permitted. However, behind this area lies a series of sand dunes that form part of a nature reserve managed by the Nature and Forests Agency. According to Bredene Mayor Kelly Spillier, some visitors have been displaying inappropriate behaviour in this area, but no more concrete details are available. The local council wishes to put a stop to this...

You make plans to go to a nude beach with your friends for the first time, and for five or 10 minutes after booking the tickets, you contemplate the nude portion with a plethora of emotions swirling in your stomach. To have your feet in the hot sand surrounded by your friends’ (and strangers’) pubic hair and bare asses; it’s an image that, in the abstract, excites, fascinates, and inspires anxiety.
You mostly forget the image (though it does sit in the back of your mind, somewhere) until you’ve nearly arrived at your destination, whether near or far. You’re hopping off a plane or a ferry or an Uber and looking at your smiling friends like, Oh, right, there’s a solid chance I’ll be seeing every bit of their bodies in a few minutes. And you’re not quite sure how to feel about that, just yet.
A friend gave me this advice ahead of my first trip to a nude beach: “Just be chill about it.” Good advice, generally, though it didn’t exactly hit at the complexities of my clothing-optional anxiety. Upon landing in Zipolite late last year, a co-ed group of friends and I pounded down to the cove at the end of the beach, Playa del Amor, to catch the sunset. No one in my group made moves to take off their bikinis or speedos just yet. I caught glimpses of every kind of nudity as we ran east along the water: straight couples, gay guys, older people, younger people, everything in between. No one seemed self-conscious; no one stared...

**Life modelling is not for everybody, but it is for every body**

“Dropping the robe for the first time is the hardest part.”
So says life modelling aficionado and creative entrepreneur Lauren Sutherland, who runs regular events inviting people to show up to crowded venues and stand around naked.
For most, this is the stuff nightmares are made of. But throughout Canberra, more than 60 models are available to do just that.
One must ask: Who are these people?
Lauren says some are simply comfortable with their bodies and looking to make a little extra cash. It’s a paid gig after all, with models earning about $50 per hour.
However – don’t all volunteer at once. Lauren says there’s a little more to the gig than “just rocking up and taking your kit off”.
Firstly, models choose their own poses and must hold them for long periods.
“Physically, it can be more demanding than we give credit for,” she said.
“It’s not natural for us as humans to be rigid in one pose for extended periods of time. You need to sit as still as possible, be conscious of how your body is positioned, think ‘Am I going to lose blood flow, or trap a nerve or something?’ and just be hyper-aware of what your body can and cannot do.”...
