Located just north of the Twin Cities, it's been a clothing-optional destination for over six decades! Here's what you need to know.
Minnesota Is Home to Several Clothing-Optional Facilities
I must admit that I'm not familiar with the North Star State's clothing-optional community or the various clubs and resorts that offer activities without requiring clothing. I didn't know there *were* any such facilities here in our fair state. But, a quick online search showed that there *are* several clothing-optional clubs right here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
Some of the more well-known facilities include Two Creeks Clothing-Option Campground near Sandstone, or the Oakwood Club near Stacy. Then there's Avatan, which calls itself 'Minnesota's Largest and Oldest Nudist Club.' It's located about 30 minutes north of the Twin Cities in East Bethel, Minnesota, and has been around since 1961.

Naturists are "taking back" the long Easter weekend and going back to the bare essentials with a whole weekend of fun events planned across the country to celebrate.
Among the events is a massive disco in the buff, plus lake swims and even a naked three-course dinner. The group say they are going for minimal outfits, but maximum fun for the four-day bank holiday.
In Liverpool, the Liverpool Sun and Air nudist group are doing a whole weekend of fun, with a camping holiday filled to the brim with foodie activities.
On Friday, they are offering "hot cross buns and a cuppa", before a big meal on Saturday night featuring "Pears with Parma Ham" and a "Roast Loin of Pork".
On Sunday, they are doing "freshly made Belgium waffles with mouth-watering toppings" including "toffee fudge delight" - all enjoyed completely in the buff.
Charles Goodyear is a British Naturism member who has been going to the events for the past eight years and said: "I was really nervous at first but then I went with my wife and now we love it.
"In the end you don't even notice that people are naked. It just becomes normal to see people without their clothes on. And there is something for everyone, it can be as wild or as chilled as you want it to be."
But if you want something a bit more wild, you could head to Newcastle where the Tynedale & Newcastle District Outdoor Club (TANDO) are hosting a big Good Friday disco...

Yes, This Community Really Exists in South Texas
Not too far from the little South Texas town of Elsa, you will find a tall sheet metal fence surrounding a few acres of land in the Rio Grande Valley. At the gate, you'll see a sign that says "Nature's Resort."
What Nature’s Resort Looks Like Inside the Gates
If you were to continue inside, you might not see anything that would raise any eyebrows. NBC 4 described the first views of the place as a "seemingly ordinary community. RVs and small homes line the roads, péntaque, and pickleball courts offer residents recreational spaces, and the front office acts as the community’s nucleus."
How Residents Reconcile Faith and Nudism
The only thing that seems out of the ordinary in this South Texas gated community? The residents are wandering about in nothing but their birthday suits. So one of the first questions you may ask yourself is "how on earth do the residents of this nudist colony consider themselves a Christian community?" Well, you may be surprised by what the residents themselves have to say. You may also find yourself fascinated by some of their unlikely advocates.
One of the co-owners of Nature's Resort is Misty Katz. She shared with NBC 4 that her love for nudism began when growing up in South Africa, "she was scolded by her parents for undressing in public when her clothes got dirty." As an adult, Katz no longer worries about that. And she has long considered herself a devout Christian.

Make no mistake: Maine’s annual moose hunting permits, or tags, are a precious, highly sought-after commodity. So it follows that how they are distributed, and the system that selects the lucky recipients, gets a lot of attention.
Maine residents are fortunate. About 90% of the more than 3,000 moose permits are allocated to individual resident applicants. The remaining 10% are earmarked for nonresident applicants, with roughly 2% of that block set aside for qualified Maine hunting lodges and outfitters.
Last year, 82 “lodge tags” were available. This year, there will be 74. Eligible lodges and outfitters apply for these tags through their own lottery process.
The concept of setting aside tags for lodges and outfitters dates back about a decade, when northern Maine’s deer population declined and many outfitters struggled financially. The goal was to help them regain economic footing.
Some outfitters, however, began monetizing those tags, selling them to clients for prices exceeding $30,000.
For reasons that have not been fully explained, the lodge tag process expanded beyond its original intent. Restaurants, hotels and even a nudist colony in southern Maine reportedly applied for and received a lodge tag...

With a pen in hand, I jotted down each tip my friend told me onto my notepad.
“This is so helpful.
Thank you,” I told him appreciatively.
It was 2009, and John, a photographer, was advising me on what lighting techniques to use when photographing the human body.
I lived in South Africa and was just starting out as a photographer.
My main area of interest was taking portraits of people who were semi-clothed or nude.
For me, it was when they were at their most beautiful.
As we chatted about nudity, John revealed to me he was a naturist.
“I’ve even been to a nude resort,” he said.
Intrigued, I did some research online and discovered naturist resorts offered a safe, private and non-sexual space to socialise with others in the nude.
Later, I mentioned it to my husband, Dion, 26.
We both enjoyed the feeling of freedom being naked gave us, which we’d discovered early on in our relationship.
Over time, we’d stopped wearing clothes in the house, unless other people were there.
“How would you feel about going to one of the resorts?” I asked Dion.
“I wouldn’t be against it,” he shrugged.
Keen to try it out, we booked a day visit to the resort John had told me about, in a few weeks’ time...

Amidst discussion of pasties and G-strings, Stevens complains that the ordinance was adopted in response to a specific concern about nude dancing at strip clubs rather than about public nudity in general. So what? As Justice Scalia responds: “As far as appears (and as seems overwhelmingly likely), the preamble, the councilmembers’ comments, and the chosen definition of the prohibited conduct simply reflect the fact that Erie had recently been having a public nudity problem not with streakers, sunbathers or hot-dog vendors, but with lap dancers.”

One British woman who now lives in Germany has shared a number of things she was surprised by when arriving in her new home - including one which she said "would put most Brits in a coma". Livi, an actress from Devon, shared the culture shocks she had experienced since moving to the European country in September last year.
And one involving the dress code in saunas caught her off guard. Writing in a TikTok video, she said: "I can't take photos of this for obvious reasons, so here's a fun wooden spoon I found instead. I know the 'dress code' is the same in other European countries, but not in Britain (and I think it would put most Brits into a coma)."
One commenter asked for more information, saying: "Wait can u elaborate on the dress code in saunas? What's so different?" Livi replied: "You're naked in German saunas!"...

**No pants Penguin comedy show makes a triumphant return**

A comedian who pretends to be a penguin by performing mostly naked is trying to get on television.
That's not actually a joke - Garry Starr, the starring character in comedy show Classic Penguins, really is making a bid for the small screen.
The show picked up a string of awards including most outstanding at the 2025 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and a recent run on London's west end sold out.
It's now just a few nights into a four-week return run at the Malthouse, for Melbourne's 2026 comedy festival.
The idea behind Classic Penguins is that Starr performs all of the Penguin Classic novels in an hour, in order to save books from extinction.
He does it dressed as a penguin, or rather, undressed. Starr performs in flippers and a tuxedo jacket, but no pants - because penguins don't wear pants.
Garry Starr is the alter ego of performer Damien Warren-Smith, who studied under the late clown guru Philippe Gaulier.
Warren-Smith's team pitched a comedy series to streaming and broadcast networks earlier in March, and while he is excited about one - or possibly even three - television projects in development, his heart is in live performance.
"I love live work because there's nothing standing between me and the audience but television is a whole different beast," he says...
