Of all the places Alyse had visited during her travelling years, Shimmermist Falls was by far her favourite. She had often thought back to her time in the quaint town, with its simplistic lifestyle, and friendly people. If ever she stopped adventuring, she thought, that would be the place she chose to live. Something about the chatoyant glow of the waterfall drew her in. She would happily sit for days, her eyes captive to its shimmering beauty, living out her final years.

The spray of the river bisecting the city shone with a chatoyant glimmer, and the smell of a thousand cookfires promised that one of them would warm him against the burgeoning snowstorm. Kane’s search would need to resume soon, but first he needed a few days’ rest.
