Today I have been making edible lace, I don’t tend to buy the premixes as making it is pretty straight forward and works out as more cost effective as I can make the exact amount I need for the project. I am using this for a winter themed cake I am making. #cakemaking #cakedecorating

The thing I have learned in culinary school is that Recipe making is hard. Especially with baking and pastry.

One important thing with recipe construction is the units of measurement.

ALWAYS MEASURE IN GRAMS. It makes such a difference when trying to create a recipe. It can be the difference between a meh bake to a really great one.

Also the reverse creaming method when it comes to cake is wild, in the sense that it works well.

I have really been enjoying about the process of recipe development and what’s actually involved. It was an area I had very little knowledge on so it has been really insightful to see what is need to create a well-balanced recipe with a good flavour profile! I have written a couple so far so will be interesting to try them #baking #cakemaking #cake #pastry#cooking

I have been learning to make modelling chocolate and it is very very very hit or miss for me. Sometimes it has worked and sometimes not. It would be great if I can master this as I would much rather work with with modelling chocolate to create decoration than fondant most of the time #chocolate #baking #cakemaking

Today has been a pretty busy day. My home oven has been put to the test. 2 heart shaped cakes (6 inch and 8 inch) 2x4 layer cakes, and 3 lots of macarons. I have also managed to from two of the four cakes. I am a little knackard 🤣 #baking #cakemaking #cake #cakedecorating
