@Tooden @anxiousspotato @pathfinder when I first bought fimo, the first thing I tried to make was an infinity badge. It was a thing from the Aspies for Freedom forum. Someone suggested it as a way to recognise fellow members, so I made one. It got a little burnt when I had to bake it.

No one else made one 😅

It fell off the clip in Asda, and I got distressed and had to go back into the store and retrace all my steps until I found it. I still have it, I'll see it I can dig it up.

Speaking of AFF, does anyone remember the Neurotypicalism Speaks parody a teenage member of the forum made? They were 14 iirc. Everyone there enjoyed it, and then #autismspeaks threatened the kid with legal action. They threatened to sue a 14 year old autistic child over a parody site.

I saw it and it was funny and harmless. I'm going to see if an archive version is avaliable anywhere.

That's the kind of group they are. It always makes me rage when I see books with endorsements or even intros from that nasty group. Why would anyone from the autistic community want anything to do with them?

Oh yay it's the day I really dread at the end of every March

April Fools Day is the worst day of the year, so this is instead a reminder of several things:

- Hope that one day the Judge Rotenberg Center will be shut down and the people running it will get prison sentences

Am I the only person to notice that CBS News showed an advertisement for Autism Speaks today, during national news at 4PM PT? I live in SF Bay Area, and I’m not sure if this was just from local KPIX. I do certainly plan to reach out and raise their attention to the harm this group causes.

ABA ("applied behavior analysis") is conversion therapy for autistic people, developed with the same methods by the same people. Anybody who wants to defend ABA to me can start by reading the Kupferstein study, after which they may come back and report the rate of PTSD they'd tolerate a "service" causing children they considered human.

I'll even link it here, because my standards are very low for behaviorists' willingness to consider #ActuallyAutistic people human enough to have anything valuable to contribute to conversations about us.

Following that, I'd like to know if they can figure out the implications of child trauma going up without dropping parent satisfaction rates. If autistic people can figure that out, surely even the most low functioning allistic people will have no trouble at all.

All this is actually me being generous and optimistic about the potential for allistic people to learn appropriate medical ethics and behaviors. Maybe then we will be able to get care for autistic kids that meets the ethical standards of dog obedience training.
