Question for those who are familiar with Alternative Text for the blind and visually impaired:

When creating Alternative Text for an image of an informational sign such as for a hiking trail, how verbose should it be?

Be My Eyes does a good job with just images and/or a small amount of text, but for informational signs the text can be quite long. I am concerned if I trim too much then valuable information will be lost.

¿Cómo añadir el texto alt con el bot?

1- Sigue al bot:

El bot te seguirá y te dirá algo, para que sepas que está listo.

2- Publica tu imagen sin escribir nada en el alt, mencionando al bot en el texto del toot (publicación).

3- El bot te responderá en el toot con la descripción de la imagen en pocos segundos.

4- Copia la descripción del bot y edita tu imagen para pegarla como alt. Este paso es importante (si no está en el alt, no es lo mismo).

please add alt text (otherwise known as alternative text and descriptive text) to your images if you are able to because it makes your posts more accessible for many disabled people

there is the option to add alt text to uploaded images by uploading the image, clicking on the top right corner of the image where it says edit, typing the image description in the box, and then clicking apply when finished

if you are unable to add alt text to you can ask other people for help by changing your post's privacy to public and then tagging your post with the hashtags #AltTextNeeded and #AltTextHelp

Vous savez comment on peut copier des images avec leur ALT quand il existe ? Pour moi, le ALT apparaît généralement dans des infobulles et il n'est pas possible de le copier/coller, donc je le recopie à la main.

Si ce n'est pas possible, ce serait une chouette idée que de créer cette fonctionnalité (ou aussi la possibilité de faire un glisser/déposer en gardant le ALT). #alternativeTextuelle #alternativetext #alttext
