Excerpt: "Glasgow Life, which manages the library service for the council, is proposing to take 16 librarians out of the city's education system. The plans would see the school service headed up by a principal librarian along with three area-based librarians, while an 'assistant' would be placed in high schools.

"An online petition against the cuts and shared among parents has since been signed more than 1,300 times.

@gem_abbott I would also argue that all school-age children should be entitled to, and provided with, #FreeSchoolMeals. There are so many families who are not entitled to #benefits, technically above the #poverty line, but who are struggling to provide. I used to #teach at secondary and so many kids were regularly going hungry. There is no way they can achieve #academically in this condition. Free food would ultimately boost #educational results and would benefit #society of the future.
