@flup Not always an easy calculation, but take #Scottish #independence. The voting system is geared such that parties who do well on the first vote are heavily disadvantaged on the list vote. The #SNP are likely to dominate the first vote so to vote for them again on the list would be to waste the second vote. If you are interested in independence, then vote on the list for the #ScottishGreens. That way you have a higher chance of getting 2 independence minded MSP's.
