A certain famous jewellery store is said to sell paperclips at $1500.

#xl8 agencies and/or direct clients who don't accept your fee from the get-go - or if you're already working with them, your fee increase announcement - should be sent on their merry way.

No matter how much work they give you, and how 'nice' they are (until rate increases are mentioned), an agency/dc may dump you anyway, out of the blue.

So take control of your rates early on.

Ich tu mich echt schwer damit, Leuten noch Übersetzen als Beruf zu empfehlen - nicht, weil ich denke, dass Maschinen hochwertige Übersetzungen ersetzen könnten, aber weil ich beobachte, dass einfach mehr Ramsch genutzt wird. An email of a different kind yesterday from some 'company' I have never heard of attaching a year long contract.

Do they really think I'll read it and say 'ooh a year long contract I absolutely MUST click on this file'?

Apparently.

However they get our emails is irrelevant as our presence on even legitimate websites and platforms can draw dodgy people or #xl8/1nt agencies (as well as good ones).

Also got another of those emails with a 'contact us through whatsapp'. Also deleted.
