What's your go-to, super-simple, publishing stack?

What is #Gatsby ? You use it? #Gatsbyjs #netlify maybe? someone is building a new site w/ that. VS Codium maybe? i think. maybe? #Codium #VScodium @Liquidream

I want simple. Something like this. Not so spartan as my .md notes,
and
not
in
#Python I suppose.

thoughts?

i mess w/ #WinterCMS but i'm thinking even more simple. wanna mess w/ opts to mod server-side content

do people still do that?

"How do you Handle your Orphans?"

I forget. what's that rule. Supposed to capitalize pronouns, right?

So should it be,

_How do You Handle Your Orphans?_
then the lowercase D seems stupid.
rem when you could be writing HTML and stick in a <span style="font-weight:bold;"> and it did some shit?
that's not a thing anymore, right? for like 15 yrs or something. i dunno what i'm talking about! good lawdy lawdy!

Honestly? I only say that because I come across my own post about it all of the time for some reason. What is i9t?
Oh! "The Fate of Style..."
some dumb shit i thought was clever...

Aww man. i want that d*mn title to be the header. what the hell. i guess that's a "page" post-type, whereas this is a "Post" post-type. goddamn pain in the ass.

You ever check out #WinterCMS ?
some kind of scripting thing like ... what's that javascript <%like this%> some <%template shit%> where the php stuff goes or... nodejs. or... oh gawd....

"How do you Handle your Orphans?" @archlinux @archlinux

Recognizing the msgs there, what is your first thought? eg. is this more like apt recommending to autoremove/ auto-clean or some amnt of evaluation?

HTML 5: the Fate of Style, Decided?

If you are in the habit of authoring valid, forward compatible hypertext markup, then you have probably heard rumors that the HTML element attribute style=“ ”, may be deprecated in HTML 5. The style=“ ” attribute is a valid attribute of HTML 4.01 and XHTML 1.0, and according to the HTML 5 draft in progress, style="" will maintain its place as [...]

Treading out the WordPress

I was having problems updating #WinterCMS. Looks to have been with Composer Update Filesystem.php line 893. Error: "touch utime failed operation not permitted."

After some googling, finally stumbled across this that did the trick: "composer clearcache"

I'm still not happy with #Grav. It appears to be the most powerful flat-file #cms and lets me paste .md from #Obsidian almost ready to publish, but it has a terrible mobile ui for blogging and feels a bit glitchy. The experience of blogging and developing I'd love is closer to #Wintercms, even if it is not flat file. But both show no interest in adapting fedi. Maybe you have ideas what could fit me better, flat file or laravel based? Dreaming of a long term solution for personal content..

Would I be able to recommend any one alternative to WP? No. That's difficult, given the broad appeal that WP still strives for.

But if you hate wasting time dealing with the Gutenberg editor and cute (but useless) pet plugins like Hello Dolly, then #WinterCMS is definitely worth a look.

I helped a few people to move their (self-hosted) sites from WP to OctoberCMS, not long before the 2021 #enshittification that changed the OctoberCMS distribution from a traditional "PHP files .tar .bz2" download to "here's our crippled demo version as a Docker image only", with a corresponding change in licence.

You can avoid wasting time on that by skipping straight to the Winter CMS fork.

The owners of #OctoberCMS changed the model to "pay up if you want to do anything other than evaluate". But somehow kept it Open Source.

And the only official October distribution is a Docker image. Your web server either supports Docker or it doesn't. So the 'free' evaluation step is a bit pointless.

The project has forked: #WinterCMS is the new one. It's still free and Open Source.

My mum just had a double pneumonia (both lungs). After spending a good week in ICU she was sent home to follow through with the antibiotics cycle. A nurse would come over three times a day and measure her pressure, oxygen saturation and give her an IV with the antibiotics.
As a nerd, I wanted to keep a close eye on her indicators such as pressure, saturation, heart rate and stuff. as a good nerd, I whipped out my #wintercms install and added a quick plugin that allowed me to quickly track the records.
In a matter of hours, I had a full system that allowed me to quickly log medication and indicators, would alert me whenever one of them should be looked at.
After a couple of weeks, with almost 100 logs, we went back to the doctor, who was in awe with the precise log. He used my records to adjust medication accordingly and mum seems to be well on the mend.
I am looking into releasing soon a simple site that will allow you to #log and #track #medicalRecords for yourself. Keep an eye open here if you are interested.
