Obsidian이 2026년 5월 새로운 커뮤니티 사이트와 개발자 대시보드를 출시하며 플러그인 생태계의 확장과 안전성 강화를 추진한다. 자동화된 리뷰 시스템을 도입해 모든 플러그인 버전을 보안 및 코드 품질 측면에서 지속적으로 검사하며, 수천 건의 대기 중인 제출물을 신속히 처리했다. 사용자와 개발자는 플러그인 안전 점수표와 상세한 보안 스캔 결과를 확인할 수 있고, 팀 단위 관리 기능과 공식 인증 배지도 도입 예정이다. 이로써 Obsidian 플러그인 개발과 배포가 더욱 쉽고 안전해져 AI 에이전트나 자동화 도구를 활용한 플러그인 생성 증가에 대응할 수 있게 되었다.

The important parts of this for security people: Obsidian is now doing automated security scanning for every community plugin, and publishing scan results.

Importantly, they’re now (automatically) reviewing every released version; before, they would only do an initial manual review upon submission to the community plugin repo.

There's a useful way to think about the prompt vs context distinction:

Prompt engineering asks: what should I say?
Context engineering asks: what should the model know?

The scope, mindset and goal are completely different. Once you see it this way, the importance of building good context becomes obvious.

So #Obsidian was barely doing any #security scanning in the past of its community plugins. I'm sure this change will catch more bad actors, but I worry that their low rep count in discovering issues is going to lead to misses. Hopefully this change will help improve their ecosystem security stance.
