🪬🍄🌈🎮💻🚲🥓🎃💀🏴🛻♓🧿I've heard the story of how #SimCity was built; #WillWright worked on a helicopter game, which required a city background to fly over. He enjoyed the city building part so much he decided to make it it's own game.
Maybe I should start by making something that simply looks nice, and then figure out how to make it dynamic; a canvas upon which to start layering mechanics.
Jimmothy BagginsSo I wanted to clarify my last Will Wright rant post. There are two games with Will Wrights name attached: VoxVerse and Proxi. Both with some different spin but both in the end still are designed to have people buy, sell and create NFTs. Get rich quick scheme disguised as a game.
This is a far cry from the Sim City and Sims games of the past. In short: stay far far away from this malice.

Will Wright’s trajectory over the last decade has perplexed me. Building this new gamified social media app. Where they too are using the AI buzzword. As well as pushing “blockchain”. I just don’t feel enthusiasm or excitement for Will’s next “big” thing.
It use to be about this endless creative sandbox to make whatever you wanted. Now it just feels like another sleazy social media app that will sell your data and distract you with NFTs. I’m sad man.

Wright left in 2009, so Sims 3 and 4 don't count here. If anything, they're trying to replicate what 1 and 2 had, but they can't help but tell a different story.
In 1, every house is somebody's mind, and every family is a process of the mind. You can build the house how you wish - this is the idea. The Goth household is Will Wright's mind - He's a practical man, and he finds inspiration in strange places. This is a place of consequence - he fears that if he's not careful, he could ruin his whole life, hence the infamous fire event. But if he can make careful preparation of all kinds, he can prevent a worst case scenario.
You can remove the stove, add a fire alarm, and get Bella AND Mortimer to read cooking books. In essence, completing this task is a bit of witchcraft at work - Will Wright left The Sims before things went south, saving his own hide, and moving on to his next big project. Completing the tasks is a blessing to send him to a better position.
