Made the ride from Boston to Plum Island and then Newburyport. Took MBTA commuter rail back to North Station.

72 miles very flat!

Tomorrow we have the first Nor'easter!

Plum Island is pretty cool, strong headwind heading south but that meant easy cruising on the way back. The several miles gravel added some excitement and fun to the ride. There was a section with pretty loose gravel but my 30mm road tires handled it just fine. Just need a bit bike handling skills!

But I didn't see any plum on Plum Island???

Set an alarm and got up early to go out for a ride, enjoying one of the last warm nice days in Boston this year. And I was rewarded with this beautiful vibrant red maple along Neponset river in the morning glow! That almost made the suffering climbing up Blue Hill TWICE less sufferable...

I finally own a top range race bike, with the top range groupset (SRAM Red) and lightweight everything. Carbon fiber integrated handlebar, carbon fiber 3D printed saddle, carbon seatpost and zipp 454 NSW wheelset.

The end result is amazing: it weighs 7.2kg which is 1.6kg lighter than my Pinarello Prince, which is also a carbon frame bike. And it's more aero!

And it cost at least $2000 less than sourcing and building it here in the US. The catch is: FedEx hasn't billed me the tariff yet...
