Seeing a white (leucistic) deer would be just as magical for me as it was for the recent visitors to the Scottish Wildlife Trust's Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve near Dunkeld.

Ghost of the forest

It's not an ordinary day when you see a white deer. Even more astonishing when it's a stag. Various places have special mythologies related to the white deer from Celtic through Native American and even Japanese. Sending Arthurian knights on adventures, leading to establish nations, leading the world to wisdom or listening to sermons. Bad luck to kill one, passing messages between the worlds and, if caught, granting wishes. It's always a pleasure to meet one, especially this close.

Hiding in the field

I've been walking around during the golden hour-ish time when I saw this young white deer hiding in the field of gold and lavender-like plants simply staring into the distance, frozen the same way cats do.
