Coworker: I'm not getting vaccinated for COVID anymore. I catch it anyway, and it's no worse than a cold.

Me: The vaccine keeps you from getting sicker and dying.

Coworker: *grumbles and waves hand in dismissal*

I'm so glad I work from home.

Even my boss's daughter, who's in med school, apparently isn't going to get vaccinated anymore because she's had COVID several times. 🤦🏻‍♀️

So, yeah, that was a fun conversation this morning.

Excuse me, 19yo Australian woman who has pictures at recent events where you're not masked.. forgive me for not believing you when you tell me you've never had covid.

I've thought for years now that wearing masks is an act of resistance and, as I like to put it (having stolen it from someone I don't remember), the new punk. With these asshole authoritarians pushing us to all unmask, that seems even more true. #WearAMask #WearAFuckingMask ✊️

So much coughing in the airport.

Unrelatedly, I'm the only one I can see wearing a mask.

No evidence of any difference in cognition between COVID-19 cohort & uninfected controls before or at point of symptom onset among infected group (P=.751), but “significant decrement in cognition among those who developed COVID-19 after their infection .… Changes in throughput were substantial (P=.001), equivalent to an AEY of 10.6 years of normal aging.”

ASSESSMENT AND CHARACTERIZATION OF COVID-19 RELATED COGNITIVE DECLINE: RESULTS FROM A NATURAL EXPERIMENT

Background Cognitive impairment is the most common and disabling manifestation of post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2. There is an urgent need for the application of more stringent methods for evaluating cognitive outcomes in research studies. Objective To determine whether cognitive decline emerges with the onset of COVID-19 and whether it is more pronounced in patients with Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 or severe COVID-19. Methods This longitudinal cohort study compared the cognitive performance of 276 patients with COVID-19 to that of 217 controls across four neuroinflammation or vascular disease-sensitive domains of cognition using data collected both before and after the pandemic starting in 2015. Results The mean age of the COVID-19 group was 56.04±6.6 years, while that of the control group was 58.1±7.3 years. Longitudinal models indicated a significant decline in cognitive throughput (( β =-0.168, P =.001) following COVID-19, after adjustment for pre-COVID-19 functioning, demographics, and medical factors. The effect sizes were large; the observed changes in throughput were equivalent to 10.6 years of normal aging and a 59.8% increase in the burden of mild cognitive impairment. Cognitive decline worsened with coronavirus disease 2019 severity and was concentrated in participants reporting post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2. Conclusion COVID-19 was most likely associated with the observed cognitive decline, which was worse among patients with PASC or severe COVID-19. Monitoring patients with post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 for declines in the domains of processing speed and visual working memory and determining the long-term prognosis of this decline are therefore warranted. ### Competing Interest Statement The authors have declared no competing interest. ### Funding Statement This study was funded by CDC/NIOSH-5 U01OH012275-02-00 (Drs. I don't get it why "not wanting to be do be subject to a disabling virus" is a thing that always needs to be justified. "But you aren't immunosuppressed." Fuck you. I've been sick already a long enough time of my life. (I'm also chronically ill, fuck you if you just wanted to hear this). "It's just a phobia, and avoidance is unhealthy coping." I fucking decide myself which coping strategies are viable to me. "Everyone will get it, just like flu." Masking also helps against flus. "No one cares any more." The rich still care, and they brainwashed you to think it's harmless, to make you work and consume again. Also fuck your eugenics 😡 "You should work on controlling your emotions." Thank you for the great advice /s; I'd rather control the air that I breathe.

Me not wanting to be subject of democide is not for debate; I'll defy every of your gaslighting attempts

GREAT NEWS! According to the CBC, no one needs to protect themselves from Covid anymore because suddenly our immunity from shots and multiple infections means no one has to do ANYTHING to prevent transmission!

ANALYSIS | COVID keeps evolving, but so does our immunity. Are we now at a 'stalemate' with this virus? | CBC News

After billions of global COVID-19 infections, millions of deaths, and countless lives upended by long-lasting health impacts, we’ve finally hit a point in this pandemic where SARS-CoV-2 isn’t the fearsome pathogen it used to be. That's thanks to how both the virus, and our immunity against it, are evolving.

Just learned that a friend has #covid; she's been in the hospital for pneumonia for a day and a half and they gave her the test results around midnight.
