If there is one thing that I have learned about #politics from my involvement in politics as an elected and appointed official in #Vermont, it's that the most stark distinction between conservatives and liberals is that conservatives almost invariably presume to speak for everyone, and liberals are almost always careful not to pretend they speak for others.

LRT: #Vermont needs #PublicBanking. #VT has the 52nd largest economy of the 52 total states plus DC and PR, and yet the state budget is still $9.4B USD proposed for FY2027.

$40M to restore a major monument is not a lot of money, in the grand scheme—0.425% of that budget—but we aren't managing our wealth well, because we lack control over it.

#Vermont needs to understand that taxing fossil fuel providers is not a viable means of altering Vermonters' consumption patterns.

What #VT should do is tax fossil fuel consumption directly.

Act 18, the Affordable Heat Act, is a morass and should be repealed and replaced with a direct fuel tax.

Act 122, the Climate Superfund Cost Recovery Program, is equally unworkable, if not moreso, and will never produce the desired results, if it even survives judicial scrutiny.
