As an #LGBT woman of Asian American color born in #NYC, two reasons why #Vermont has always been at or near the top of my list of places I would like to live are that #VT offers strong protections against undue #discrimination and strong protections for the #RTKBA.

I also love skiing, maple syrup, apple cider, cheese, mountains, sailing, and many other #Vermont things. It was skiing that first drew me here; it was the #Equality and #Liberty that convinced me to stay. #VTpol #StellaQuartaDecima

My name is Gemma Seymour, and I approve this message.

' The Second Amendment was written for everyone. Everyone! That means people of every race, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, and more. The sooner we fully embrace that truth, the better.

The right to keep and bear arms should transcend all other affiliations. Don’t let identity politics (or anything else) divide the 2A community. '

I am absolutely disgusted that all three of #Brattleboro's #VTHouse delegation voted for this bill that guts what few tenant protections #VT law provides, especially at this time in history, with our communty suffering a severe #housing shortage and #homelessness crisis.

Emilie Kornheiser, Molly Burke, and Ian Goodnow, *shame on you*!

#Vermonters, if you value sanity, please contact your #VTSenate and urge them to vote against H.772. #VTpol #VTpoli

A Vermont landlord pursues debts from tenants. His wife now helps write eviction law.

For years, Rep. Debbie Dolgin and her husband brought cases before an assistant judge who issued arrest warrants to collect unpaid debts from their tenants. As a major landlord-tenant bill is actively debated, Dolgin says she sees no conflict in her roles.

If there is one thing that I have learned about #politics from my involvement in politics as an elected and appointed official in #Vermont, it's that the most stark distinction between conservatives and liberals is that conservatives almost invariably presume to speak for everyone, and liberals are almost always careful not to pretend they speak for others.

Conservativism values conformity; Liberalism values diversity.

Vermont prevails in multistate lawsuit over gender-affirming care for minors

“We will continue to fight to ensure that gender-affirming care remains safe, effective, and protected,” said Attorney General Charity Clark.

#BernieSanders should have retired long ago, and not run for re-election the last time he did. #Vermont has a serious problem with its political pipeline, and we need to solve this faster than ever.

#BeccaBalint can replace Bernie, but someone has to replace her, and someone else needs to replace #PeterWelch, before long. #VTDems #VTProgressives need to get their acts together in a hurry. #VTpol

LRT: #Vermont needs #PublicBanking. #VT has the 52nd largest economy of the 52 total states plus DC and PR, and yet the state budget is still $9.4B USD proposed for FY2027.

$40M to restore a major monument is not a lot of money, in the grand scheme—0.425% of that budget—but we aren't managing our wealth well, because we lack control over it.

Public banking would put us in control of our future, because it would allow us to create the liquidity needed to invest in our infrastructure. #VTpol

RE: https://animalofthings.com/leash-laws-in-vermont/

No dog should ever be off a leash when not on the owner's private property, and then only when the property is sufficiently fenced and no one else is present, unless the owner first receives consent from visitors to unleash the animal. Dogs don't belong in public, unless they are certified service animals. Your desire for animal companionship does not supercede my right to be free from molestation or attack. #Vermont #VTpol #VTpoli #PeopleFirst

#Vermont needs to understand that taxing fossil fuel providers is not a viable means of altering Vermonters' consumption patterns.

What #VT should do is tax fossil fuel consumption directly.

Act 18, the Affordable Heat Act, is a morass and should be repealed and replaced with a direct fuel tax.

Act 122, the Climate Superfund Cost Recovery Program, is equally unworkable, if not moreso, and will never produce the desired results, if it even survives judicial scrutiny.

Meanwhile, all three of the #Brattleboro delegation to the #VTHouse voted to pass H.772, a bill that eviscerates tenant protections in #Vermont, which are meager eough as they stand. H.772 is a huge giveaway to #landlords.

I am extremely disappointed in Ian Goodnow (Windham-9), Molly Burke (Windham-8), and Emilie Kornheiser (Windham-7), today.

This past weekend, Rep. Burke announced her retirement. She will not seek re-election this November.
