The President of the United States has no authority to issue executive orders regarding #elections. #USpol #VTpol

The Constitution of the United States, Article I, Section 4, states very clearly:

' The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators. '

While the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) program is federally-funded, it is not adminstered by the federal government, it is actually a state-level program, and this is true of all the states, not just #Vermont.

The very fact *that* the federal government requisitioned this data is all the proof you need to understand that the federal government has never had that data to begin with.

Governor Scott was wrong, he has acted improperly, and he has endangered #Vermonters. #VTpol

While Governor Scott did the right thing in declining to send #Vermont National Guard soldiers to Washington, DC, to assist in the Trump regime's illegal takeover of the district's municipal police operations, he absolutely did the wrong thing in relinquishing SNAP recipient data to the federal government.

The Scott administration's claim that SNAP is a federal program, and that therefore the federal government is entitled to that data is a false statement. #VTpol

I would like to point out that while Governor Scott did the right thing in declining to send #Vermont National Guard soldiers to Washington, DC, to assist in the Trump regime's illegal takeover of the district's municipal police operations, he absolutely did the wrong thing in relinquishing SNAP recipient data to the federal government.

Here's my idea for a new flag for #Vermont #VTpol

The hoist is to the left.

I will happily relinquish my copyright to this design to the State of Vermont, upon request, should it be adopted as the state flag.

If #Vermont gets a new flag, then like other states where woodlands and waters are significant, green and blue are the most obvious symbolic colors. I think it should have a 14-point star made from two overlapping 7-point stars with differing minor radii for visual interest, to reflect the motto "Stella Quarta Decima", because Vermont was the 14th state.

One would tend to think sugar maples are far more associated with Vermont life than pine trees. #VTpol

Other states are redesigning their flags. Is it Vermont's turn?

The Vermont state flag defies almost every rule of good flag design.

I don't think I mentioned this before, but the #Vermont legislature recently passed S.109, which amends 13 V.S.A. § 4013 to repeal the illegality of switchblade #knives and directs the state to expunge all prior convictions under the repealed statue. This is a good thing, as the law was irrational, inconsistent with other Vermont statutes, and unconstitutional. Governor Scott is expected to sign the bill, which will go into effect July 1, 2025. #rtkba #VTpol

I do not have a problem with people disagreeing with my #politics. What I do have a problem with is people who blatantly misrepresent my politics.

One thing that I have noticed about my political opponents in this town is that they frequently claim to speak for "the majority". This is something that I very specifically do NOT do.

I do not *ever* claim to speak for the majority when I take up an opposing position. Neither or us has any legitimate basis for claiming to do so. #VTpol

Remember: No one is asking you personally to solve the problems of #despair #poverty #homelessness and #addiction overnight.

What we're asking is for you to get out of the way of those of us who are actually working positively and concretely to make it happen, and if possible, for you to join us.
