A friend asked me at Town Meeting why there were armed police present. She felt intimidated by the police presence. I pointed out to her that they were there to protect us, and I meant that seriously.

My actual motion to amend Article 8 to raise the Human Services budget from $1 back to the originally allocated $482,665, is at 5:53:25, which after some confusion over the wording, eventually passed 144-101. #Vermonters, please, my advice to you, if you want to be taken seriously in politics, is to get involved in town government first, and get elected. Legitimacy matters.
It is vital that you understand the actual workings of governance, before you presume that you know enough, that you know better, and try to jump into a position for which you are simply not ready, because you haven't done the homework.
Government is nothing like running a business enterprise or nonprofit org.
#VTDems have a severe problem with their seemingly complete lack of a candidate pipeline.
The #Vermont Democratic Party hasn't fielded a serious candidate for Governor in many elections, and we have been plagued with a rogue's gallery of people running for #VT Governor as Democrats who have never held elected office, presuming to step into the highest executive office in the state as their entrée to politics.
Where is the ambition? Where is the dedication to public service? #VTpol #VTpoli
Deciding where to build #sidewalks based on how many people you seeing risking walking on the side of a #highway is exactly like deciding where to build #bridges based upon how many people you see swimming across a river, or deciding where to build roads by how many people you see #driving their #cars through the woods and fields.
You don't plan #transportation #infrastructure based upon apparent current usage. The lack of that infrastructure enforces low usage.
