"<Democrat> meets with <Trump official>, seeks assurances" is one of the dumbest things you can say or do, and yet they keep doing it.

You can get whatever "assurances" you like from anyone in the administration, but the minute Trump's swiss-cheese mind misfires a braincell or Stephen Miller's racism-boner twitches or Russell Vought sees an opportunity to executive-order women back into the kitchen, it's out the window and they'll do whatever they want to do.

If you want to make sure they don't do something, pass a goddamned law. That is literally your job. Stop pussy-footing around.
