Just as he makes arguments for the personhood and divinity of the Son, #Ursinus makes an argument for the personhood and divinity of the Spirit.

One of the most interesting arguments for the Holy Spirit being a person (not a power or force) is that the Spirit is the author of baptism. We are baptized in the name of the Spirit (along with Father and Son) and according to his will, command, and authority. We are baptized in the name of a person, not a power.

#ursinus in his commentary on the #heidelbergcatechism treats the topic of election and predestination under the doctrine of the church (Q54). He believes election is a way of speaking about how Christ gathers, defends, and preserves his church.

This dogmatic placement of election was carried into the Synod of Dort, where the canons are seen as an extended confessional clarification on Question 54.
