It seems that #fennec browser has messed up the #unifiedPush integration in version 149 :(

seems a fix is available already after 2 days :) I just have to wait for the update of the browser to 150 now :)

Ich wollte nur Zulip-Notifications auf dem Handy. Also habe ich angefangen, selbst was zu bauen – und bin in ein Rabbit Hole gefallen.
Dieser Vortrag erzählt die Geschichte, wie ich versucht habe, ein Problem zu lösen – und dabei verstanden habe, wie Push-Notifications wirklich funktionieren. Warum mein erster Ansatz nicht skaliert. Warum fast jede App Firebase oder APNs nutzt. Warum selbst Signal bei Google anklopft. Und warum das seit dem Wyden-Brief von 2023 ein dokumentiertes Privacy-Problem ist: »We kill people based on metadata.«
Ich zeige, welche Alternativen es mit UnifiedPush und ntfy gibt, wie ich eine Bridge für Zulip gebaut habe, und warum das gleiche Problem auch für Prometheus-Alerts, Grafana-Notifications und CI/CD-Pipelines gilt. Und was das mit digitaler Souveränität zu tun hat.

Our combined booth for #UnifiedPush and #XMPP at #CLT2026 went great. There was huge interest in UnifiedPush, and we successfully funneled some of that interest into XMPP as well.
I think it's a great combination since those projects are ideologically well-aligned, and we will likely do it again.

Résolu grâce à @R1Rail en désactivant les notifications push (dont je n'ai pas grand chose à faire) dans paramètres > notifications >fennec et décocher les notifications push. 🙂

Vous aussi vous avez une notification énervante quand vous ouvrez Fennec qui vous dit que le service push de l'application n'est plus disponible et qu'il faut "réactiver unified push pour sélectionner un nouveau service" ?
Je veux bien une aide /solution pour résoudre ce truc.

Also Fennec: What's 'UnifiedPush'? Never heard of it.

For context. Having UnifiedPush would be nice but not having it in the preferences then taunting you with a notification for a setting that doesn't exist is so mean.

I'm trying to use UnifiedPush through Conversations, mostly for the FMD (find my device) app. Also, I switched the url in Conversations to use my prosody server configured with mod_unified_push. This works with the UP example app, but FMD isn't getting any kind of "push url". When I try to switch Conversations back to using up.conversations.im, FMD still doesn't get a push URL. It's looking like the problem is with FMD, but I want to test notifications with some other apps first.
