Not sure if it specifically makes the case for #UnifiedPush. Nevertheless, having open standards instead of closed gardens and monopolies, as well as always having the option of #selfhosting should be the default.
If you were waiting for some libraries to support UnifiedPush on your Linux app: you now have Rust crates, and GObject introspection bindings, tested with C and Python!

Interestingly, to our knowledge, this is the first proprietary application to support the protocol. However, this support is part of an effort to open up the clients.
It seems that #fennec browser has messed up the #unifiedPush integration in version 149 :(
seems a fix is available already after 2 days :) I just have to wait for the update of the browser to 150 now :)

Dieser Vortrag erzählt die Geschichte, wie ich versucht habe, ein Problem zu lösen – und dabei verstanden habe, wie Push-Notifications wirklich funktionieren. Warum mein erster Ansatz nicht skaliert. Warum fast jede App Firebase oder APNs nutzt. Warum selbst Signal bei Google anklopft. Und warum das seit dem Wyden-Brief von 2023 ein dokumentiertes Privacy-Problem ist: »We kill people based on metadata.«
