I was aware that the #UKCA logo existed, and was so crap we decided not to bother with it any more, but today on my new router I discovered an even more pointless #brexit logo, the #UKNI logo.

It's so crap it actually makes your product worse - literally the only thing it does is prevent your already CE certified product from being sold in the EU.

I am compiling a list of "no brainers" for our new gov.

SCRAP UKCA MARK AND GIVE US ALL A BREAK

Dying Gov was booting this hated waste of money down the road

#brexit #ukca #labour

@neil I mean, #UKCA basically died because noone was willing to dish out money for yet another Spectrum Compliance Body...

Like I'd rather invest that money into compliance for Japan, "P.R." China, Taiwan and India before that as the #UK kinda accepts #CE and everyone who sells in the #EU & #EFTA will have to pick that anyway.

This is a good piece about the uncertainty regarding use of the CE mark alongside (or instead of?) the UKCA mark.

Some parts have been postponed indefinitely but it remains to be seen whether it will still change in the next few years. Whether using CE alone, without UKCA, is allowed. And whether future divergence could be caused by the EU changing requirements but the UK not following. Watch this space.

Recent UKCA announcement not all that it seems – yet?

Recent UKCA announcement not all that it seems – yet?

The #UKGovernment has announced an indefinite extension to the use of CE marking for British businesses, which shows that products meet #EU standards. This is a major U-turn from the previous plan to introduce a #UKCA system, which would have created costly duplication and reduced consumer choice. The UKCA system was an absurd consequence of #Brexit that exposed the government’s lack of foresight and competence.

“Brexit ideology is being shunned as economic conditions deteriorate.

While industry groups like the British Chambers of Commerce and Make UK say firms will be breathing a “sigh of relief” — and are rightly delighted that two and a half years of lobbying has finally paid off — the chaos does not end with a front-page story in the FT.”

How many millions have been wasted on this idiotic jingoistic UKCA mark nonsense?

I'm no expert but I'm guessing any UK exporters who want to benefit from EU rollover free trade agreements will need the CE mark anyway?
