@huntingdon @Npars01 I see that a bit differently.

AFAICS, #Sunak read the room correctly. With #LINO having moved so far to the right, and the media so firmly dominated by the right, Sunak calculated that his revelation would be treated as virtue rather than vice.

Sadly, he seems to have weighed things well. Free speech in Britain is now available only to the rightwingers

I think the author of this Guardian opinion piece is right to draw attention to the #political nature of these appointments within #BigTech. I mean, in what screwed up world are Rishi #Sunak or George #Osborne qualified for senior roles in these companies? Appointing them is to harness their doubtless political influence, clearly.

Hang on! #Johnson was sacked by his own ministers for incontinent lying. #Sunak was sacked by the Electorate for (not least) using his High Office to further enrich his former professional associates in merchant banking.

Why then is the malevolent placeman of these two discredited & ejected failures now "unsackable" ?

Former-Prime-Ministers-at-the-Cenotaph sort of worked in the past. Major for the Old Guard Tories. Blair & Brown for the New Labour years.

But then the line-up of failures representing Tory tenure of the #Brexit years:

#Cameron (called it)
#May (signed it)
#Johnson (delivered it)
#Truss (freaked-the-markets)
#Sunak (bankers' bonuses back on track phew).

Let us be glad this string of numpties get to turn out every year, to remind us what Toryism in office looks like.
