This 20 inch necklace is finally finished. Inspired by Hellenistic era apotropaic eye beads, but with a selection of more transparent colors than one would find on ancient examples. Yesterday our Saturday market became a Sunday mini-market, as Saturday was the Veteran's Day parade. Just 3 blocks long, instead of our usual 6. It was chilly, but with glorious sunshine. When a customer is deciding whether to buy a piece, I suggest they take it into the sunshine. That usually clinches the sale. Something new that's definitely not blue. I used shades of opaque and transparent red, peach, topaz, mauve, and other shades of glass to make this 19 inch necklace. Most are barrel or tubular shaped, but I've also made 6 small beads I rolled in gold colored mica while hot. I used a turquoise opaque shade of Murano glass to make the beads, adding splashes of red and earth tones, and a thin band of marbled blue around each bead. 17.25 inches long.
