Now that the "Mira! Las Cruces" festival is over (I had an excellent couple of days!), it's time to share some new work. I used a range of rich red and topaz shades, transparent and opaque, to make the beads. On a whim I turned the focal bead into a little humanoid figure. Thanks to some big brass and copper jump rings and roll milled or stamped pieces I made 5 or 6 years ago, I was able to combine metal with lampwork beads. I'll have these at the "Mira! Las Cruces" festival, and bushels more new hot glass.

This necklace evokes some of the colors of the Southwest generally, and New Mexico in particular. Several different colors of opaque glass used here, with a dark turquoise peeking through the earthy red, orange and yellow tones. I made the central pendant resemble a sort of talisman. Another necklace is this coral red and dark turquoise blue combination that I find very satisfying. The central pendant is a mix of colors I've used to resemble stones that can be found in the environment here in southern New Mexico.
