I had taken pics for my archives, thinking I would post this new 18.5 inch necklace later in the week. But it sold immediately at yesterday's Farmers Market. This shade of glass was a bit finicky, but worth the effort. A good day at the market yesterday, starting a bit chilly, but the crowds grew as the day warmed. More new work coming soon. #handmade #glass #beads #necklace #jewelry #handmadeglass #handmadebeads #lampwork #artyoucanwear #farmersmarket #lascruces #newmexico #MastoArt
While most of my sales come from markets and festivals, I continue selling online, especially through my Ko-fi shop (see link in profile). This piece recently sold to a customer in Kansas. The tropical fish were fun to make. #handmade #glass #beads #necklace #jewelry #handmadeglass #handmadebeads #glassbeads #glassbeadsjewelry #lampwork #lampworkbeads #flamework #torchwork #studioglass #artglass #artisanglass #artyoucanwear #lascruces #lascrucesnm #newméxico #newmexicoartist #christofmaupin
Yesterday our Saturday market became a Sunday mini-market, as Saturday was the Veteran's Day parade. Just 3 blocks long, instead of our usual 6. It was chilly, but with glorious sunshine. When a customer is deciding whether to buy a piece, I suggest they take it into the sunshine. That usually clinches the sale. It's the magic of glass. #glass #HotGlass #lampwork #flamework #torchwork #handmadeglass #artisanglass #studioglass #glassart #glassartist #artyoucanwear #newmexico #lascruces #sunshine
Something new that's definitely not blue. I used shades of opaque and transparent red, peach, topaz, mauve, and other shades of glass to make this 19 inch necklace. Most are barrel or tubular shaped, but I've also made 6 small beads I rolled in gold colored mica while hot. It's in my Ko-fi and Etsy shops (links in profile). #handmade #glass #HotGlass #lampwork #flamework #torchwork #artyoucanwear #jewelry #necklace #artisanglass #studioglass #glassbeads #newmexico #lascruces #MastoArt
A fusion of worlds: I've used New Mexico colors (turquoise, yellow, red) to make beads that would have been typical of the Roman Empire in the 3rd-4th Centuries. Trailing of light colors over dark, eyes on the beads, the barrel shapes, very typical. So a fusion of two very different times/places. Making blue things lately, perhaps because the weather is cooling (at least by southern New Mexico standards). I used transparent cobalt blue and emerald green glass to make the beads. With a few concessions to modernity, this is a copy of an ancient Roman glass bead necklace of the 2nd or early 3rd Century. It's long, at 21 inches. A new piece in both my Etsy and Ko-fi shops. I used a turquoise opaque shade of Murano glass to make the beads, adding splashes of red and earth tones, and a thin band of marbled blue around each bead. 17.25 inches long. I'm a bit late posting this, but I had a great time at this Saturday's Las Cruces Farmers & Crafters Market: made new friends, sold lots of work to people who appreciate real handmade (see the collage pics), and came back later for the Pride Festival and parade. I'll be at the Market this coming Saturday. See you then! #lascruces #lascrucesnm #newméxico #newmexicoartist #handmade #glass #beads #jewelry #lampwork #flamework #hotglass #glassart #artyoucanwear #christofmaupin #MastoArt
