Yesterday our Saturday market became a Sunday mini-market, as Saturday was the Veteran's Day parade. Just 3 blocks long, instead of our usual 6. It was chilly, but with glorious sunshine. When a customer is deciding whether to buy a piece, I suggest they take it into the sunshine. That usually clinches the sale. A fusion of worlds: I've used New Mexico colors (turquoise, yellow, red) to make beads that would have been typical of the Roman Empire in the 3rd-4th Centuries. Trailing of light colors over dark, eyes on the beads, the barrel shapes, very typical. So a fusion of two very different times/places. Making blue things lately, perhaps because the weather is cooling (at least by southern New Mexico standards). I used transparent cobalt blue and emerald green glass to make the beads. With a few concessions to modernity, this is a copy of an ancient Roman glass bead necklace of the 2nd or early 3rd Century. It's long, at 21 inches.
