Analyst News on Instagram: "President Trump ordered deadly strikes on Iran while sitting comfortably at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida over the weekend. Those who declare war are often far from its cruelties and horrors. Yet their decisions affect thousands of innocent lives and the destiny of nations. Veteran MP Tony Benn gave this impassioned anti-war speech to the British Parliament in 1998 when MPs were voting to bomb Iraq. Denouncing the lust for war, he slammed such warmongering as the "greatest betrayal" of the U.N. Charter, which was established to prevent the horror of WW2 repeating itself. "Don't Arab and Iraqi women weep when their children die? What fools we are to live in a generation where war is just a computer game..." His words are even more important today as Israel and the United States wage a violent and illegal war of choice against Iran."

  • What power have you got?

  • Where did you get it from?

  • In whose interests do you use it?

  • To whom are you accountable?

  • How do we get rid of you?

  • That last one is most important, as it reveals whether you live in a democracy or not.

I've always thought he was a great thinker, he was the first I came across that told the big story of civilization, that all power is founded on the theft of land and property, and the enslavement of the people. Power shouldn't exist as a divine right or by force, it should only be granted peacefully and by consent.
