Am getting ready to go to Barcelona, and some travel planning snafu means I'm arriving Saturday instead of Sunday and had no hotel... I've solved that... but now I have a more fun problem...

Bupa Global Health finally got back to confirm that yes... if you've been diagnosed for gender dysphoria or incongruence, then this is a pre-existing condition and any request (medical, surgical, etc) would be excluded on that basis.

I knew this... it's just stupid.

It's a bit "your existence is your problem", and well... I already know that, but what I keep being vocal about is that the mere existence of someone shouldn't be grounds for excluding them for receiving care.

The system is operating as designed... I am angry with the design of the system.

I've done both a psychiatrist and a separate psychologist assessment, and apparently I have overwhelming evidence of gender dysphoria.... Yay?!

also, the psychologist was interesting:

  • remember these words
  • what were the words?
  • other conversation
  • what were the words?

this was fine, I gave all the words back in alphabetical order.

then:

  • remember these numbers
  • what are the numbers?
  • what are the numbers in reverse?
  • short conversation
  • what were the numbers?

this too was fine, I gave the numbers back in alphabetical order too... and pointed out they were alphabetic "eight seven two... e s t" and got the most curious look from her 🤣

idk why remembering things is important to psychologists, sort order and algorithms are surely more important

Edit: apparently they may be looking for autism and ADHD with the memory bit.

i saw this while biking, someone shoved their empty plastic bottle in this trimmed edge, and the sun went trough it like a magnifier and burned the surrounding leaves, at least that's my theory.

this could even start a fire. i took it out and threw it in the recycling.
