Tomorrow I go to the opera.
This is to see Last Days, an adaptation of Gus Van Sant's film on Kurt Cobain. https://www.rbo.org.uk/tickets-and-events/last-days-matt-copson-details
Regardless of the context of what I'm seeing or the fact that it's in the small theatre, it's an opera, it's at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, and it's just before Christmas... a time when the rich and wealthy dress up to the nines and come out and celebrate their wealth and obvious high culture.
Most of the time in transness I seek for it to be just a thing... a characteristic of me but not one I dress to draw obvious attention to.
But on this occasion I can't agree with doing that, I think it's really important to be visible, despite anticipating that I won't see a person like me present. On this occasion I need to be so visible I'm undeniable, a loud "I exist" to a segment of society that never sees a trans person.

Last Days
Find out about Last Days at the Royal Opera House. A critically acclaimed opera returns. Adapted from Gus Van Sant’s 2005 film loosely based on the final days of grunge icon Kurt Cobain, Last Days is an introspective meditation on the silent torment and alienation that created a modern myth.
