#trans she/her #plural #poly

cute things and #kindness makes a nice world to live in. lived 5 decades already, doing the elder trans thing despite starting so late.

catparent to Orphée and Persephone, listening to music (ex-industry), gaming, mucking around with Go, Rust and keeping CPUs warm (still in this industry), cycling, photography, architecture, fashion, history, philosophy, reading, astrophotography and stargazing, hiking, self-hosting... hmm, might have ADHD 👀 always tired and eepy as doing too much.

when I die I will have died of being myself, of living too hard, there's so much life to live and give. if you spread love, it comes back to you many times over. open to all forms of connection, good people enrich life

Am getting ready to go to Barcelona, and some travel planning snafu means I'm arriving Saturday instead of Sunday and had no hotel... I've solved that... but now I have a more fun problem...

What should I get up to on a Saturday night in Barcelona?

My default if there are no good suggestions is going to be Candy Darling. https://whereis.gay/listing/candy-darling/ https://www.instagram.com/candydarlingbar/

But any other suggestions for a trans lass to get up to in #barcelona ?

Candy Darling - WhereIs.Gay

Candy Darling, nestled near Plaça de la Universitat in Barcelona, is a vibrant queer bar that has become a cornerstone of the city's LGBTQ+ nightlife since its opening in September 2019. The bar's name honors Candy Darling, the iconic transgender actress from Andy Warhol's Factory, reflecting its deep roots in queer culture and activism. Inside, Candy Darling boasts an eclectic decor featuring various pieces of queer art, including murals and installations that create a unique and inclusive atmosphere. The spacious interior offers cozy lounge areas with plush sofas, providing the perfect setting to unwind with friends. The bar serves a selection of savory small plates, such as their signature 'bikini darling'—a toasted ham and cheese sandwich with creative twists like the Pastrami Queer, Naturist, and Versatile. Candy Darling is renowned for its diverse entertainment lineup, hosting regular drag shows, circus acts, and burlesque performances that keep patrons engaged and entertained. For those looking to dance, the Wild Room offers a pocket-sized disco experience that's not to be missed. Beyond its role as a nightlife venue, Candy Darling serves as a safe haven for the LGBTQ+ community, fostering a sense of queer freedom and expression. Its commitment to providing a welcoming space for all is evident in both its ambiance and the diverse crowd it attracts.

Bupa Global Health finally got back to confirm that yes... if you've been diagnosed for gender dysphoria or incongruence, then this is a pre-existing condition and any request (medical, surgical, etc) would be excluded on that basis.

I knew this... it's just stupid.

It's a bit "your existence is your problem", and well... I already know that, but what I keep being vocal about is that the mere existence of someone shouldn't be grounds for excluding them for receiving care.

The system is operating as designed... I am angry with the design of the system.

I AM FREE I AM FREE FOR THREE WEEKS. IT IS OVER FOR THREE WEEKS. FUCK CLICKHOUSE, FUCK JAVA, FUCK STUPID DECISIONS, FUCK LLMS I AM FREE FOR THREE WEEKS

I've done both a psychiatrist and a separate psychologist assessment, and apparently I have overwhelming evidence of gender dysphoria.... Yay?!

also, the psychologist was interesting:

  • remember these words
  • what were the words?
  • other conversation
  • what were the words?

this was fine, I gave all the words back in alphabetical order.

then:

  • remember these numbers
  • what are the numbers?
  • what are the numbers in reverse?
  • short conversation
  • what were the numbers?

this too was fine, I gave the numbers back in alphabetical order too... and pointed out they were alphabetic "eight seven two... e s t" and got the most curious look from her 🤣

idk why remembering things is important to psychologists, sort order and algorithms are surely more important

Edit: apparently they may be looking for autism and ADHD with the memory bit.

i saw this while biking, someone shoved their empty plastic bottle in this trimmed edge, and the sun went trough it like a magnifier and burned the surrounding leaves, at least that's my theory.

this could even start a fire. i took it out and threw it in the recycling.
A single-nucleotide enhancer mutation overrides chromosomal sex to drive XX male development - Nature Communications

A single base pair insertion in the Sox9 enhancer, Enh13, mediates XX female-to-male sex reversal. This subtle non-coding mutation reconfigures transcriptional regulation, enhances Sox9 expression, revealing Enh13 as a binary switch governing sexual fate.

In 2026 if you leave a web page open in a tab long enough it will just say "A newer version of this app is available, refresh to load the new version".

So you refresh, and ignore the tab... and a week later it will say it again.

PWAs shipped in Service Workers were a mistake.

They forced employees to eat scorpions and tarantulas

Had them lay down on fire ants

Served them uncooked meat

Served E. coli laced vegetables

Didn't have enough water for them to drink

Lacked proper medical care

Left them stranded on an island
