I got three clay samples in the mail yesterday from my #ClayPal @archeaids and it prompted a round of sig making.

I dissolved each clay sample in water and sieved through 60 mesh, added a tiny amount of sodium silicate to deflocculate and now to let them sit. Over time, the coarser particles will settle to the bottom and the top layer will be a silky, refined decorating slip. #clay #terrasigillata #wildclay #ceramics #art #alttext

Neuzugänge bei meiner Terra Sigillata: 2 konische „Legionärsbecher“ (ca. 7,5 cm hoch, 9 cm ∅) und eine flache Barbotine-Schale mit Fuß (∅ ca. 17 cm)...

Es ist echt schwer, an einfache „Gebrauchskeramik“ zu kommen. Für reich verziertes Festtagsgeschirr gibt es Bestellmöglichkeiten, aber einfaches, normales römisches Sigillata-Geschirr für den täglichen Gebrauch... fast unmöglich. Leider.

...mein römisches Geschirr hat Zuwachs bekommen: Eine kleine Terra-Sigillata-Schale mit einer Art Kerbschnitt- oder Rädchenverzierung sowie eine Replik eines römischen formgeblasenen konischen Glasbechers aus UK, von den "Glassmakers" (Link: http://theglassmakers.co.uk/), die sich auf historische Glasrepliken spezialisiert haben.
(Übrigens ist das Glas in natura gar nicht so quietescheblau wie auf dem Foto.)
