Between robots.txt, JavaScript and dynamically generated content and air #tarpits its quite apparent why the Web 4.0 (?) / folks want to pour gasoline on the web and burn it down.

Growing up as a paleontology nerd, I read a lot about the La Brea tar pits. But until I ran into a random paper a few months ago, I don't think I've ever read anything about the many other tar pits around the Americas and the world, many of which are equals to La Brea in scientific importance. I certainly never heard the story of Pitch Lake in Trinidad, the tar pit that paved America.
This was a fun one to write.
