BaltimoreEste viernes se estrena, además de Amarga Navidad, Paradises. El mismo día se estrenará el video del single Evergreen. Antes, como es la costumbre de estos tiempos, ya se nos presentaron un puñao.
Entre ellos, Ladytron compartió I See Red, un temazo marca de la casa, Ladytron Ladytron Ladytron.
Es esta una pista de sintetizadores que sandunguean manteniendo la contención, guardando, a su vez, claroscuros, quizá emulando en su sonido -mediante una suerte de sinestesia- el ambiente de la discoteca, donde la luz abunda tanto como la negrura y nunca sale el sol. Donde todo puede ser rojo, presagiarlo o hacer que nos olvidemos de él. O que nos dé igual ("Curse with which we're blessed").
Este es el petardazo que puede, y solo sabe, dar Ladytron, ¿para qué abstenerse? Encima la pulsión retro clásica de la banda (porque son un grupo aunque el nombre lleve a error) se conserva en su integridad.
No necesitas que te digan quienes firman la canción. Y eso es magnífico, tanto como no pararte a pensarlo porque solo quieres bailarla.

"Big in Japan" es ese temazo de 1984 que puso a Alphaville en el mapa y que, curiosamente, mucha gente baila sin pararse a pensar de qué va realmente.
No es una canción sobre ser famoso en el extranjero, sino que tiene un trasfondo mucho más oscuro y real: habla de la lucha contra la adicción a las drogas en el Berlín de los 80.
La frase "Big in Japan" era una expresión que se usaba para decir que, aunque aquí seas un desastre o no seas nadie, en algún lugar remoto (como Japón) podrías ser alguien importante.
Es una metáfora sobre el autoengaño, sobre crearse un mundo paralelo para no afrontar la cruda realidad que tienes delante.
Es ironía pura envuelta en un sintetizador impecable.
Un himno del synth-pop que demuestra que se puede hacer música para las pistas de baile con una letra que te deja el cuerpo helado si te paras a escucharla de verdad.
