Introduction The State of South Carolina is home to two (2) distinct national forests. The Francis Marion National Forest is situated within the coastal plain of the State of South Carolina, directly facing the Atlantic Ocean, while the inland Sumter National Forest is associated with the Upstate Piedmont region of the State.
