He even proposed living in a small palace while tutoring the Crown Prince on global finance, offering his services free of charge in exchange for regular meetings and access to sovereign‑wealth data.

The files also document unprecedented gifts that blurred the line between diplomacy and personal intrigue. Epstein arranged for pieces of the Kaaba’s kiswa—silk cloth that covers Islam’s holiest shrine—to be shipped to his Caribbean island, classifying them as “artwork” to clear U.S. customs. Alongside the sacred fabric arrived a Bedouin tent, traditional carpets and other Middle‑Eastern décor, creating a stylized enclave on Little Saint James. In Qatar, Epstein corresponded with members of the Al‑Thani family, offering a four‑point strategy to mend the nation’s image after its 2017 blockade, and he attempted to broker talks between Saudi and Qatari leaders during periods of heightened tension.

Even while serving an 18‑month work‑release sentence in 2009, Epstein continued to act as an intermediary, linking Emirati businessmen with British officials and editing diplomatic correspondence. Contacts sometimes addressed him with titles such as “Sheikh Jeffrey” or “habibi,” underscoring his desire for acceptance within elite circles. Although there is little evidence that his outreach translated into concrete policy influence, the revelations illustrate how a disgraced financier managed to embed himself—through advice, extravagant gifts, and personal charm—within the periphery of Gulf power structures, gaining access and attention that many would consider unsettling.

Neanche il cessate il fuoco di due settimane in Iran è sufficiente per placare Benjamin Netanyahu. Nella prima giornata di tregua, infatti, Israele intensifica gli attacchi sul Libano come mai prima d’ora. Un’ondata di raid ha colpito Beirut, con diversi quartieri della città coinvolti, dal centro al lungomare. E anche zone molto popolose.
Inevitabile il panico tra le strade della capitale libanese, con i testimoni che parlano di “scene apocalittiche” per gli edifici distrutti e le colonne di fumo che si sollevano in più punti della città. Secondo alcune fonti mediche si registrano già centinaia di feriti e decine di morti, con diversi cadaveri tra le strade.
Israele se ne frega del cessate il fuoco: il Libano sotto assedio
Le operazioni di soccorso sono partite in diverse zone della città – con oltre cento ambulanze mobilitate dalla Croce Rossa – ed è anche stato lanciato un appello alla popolazione per donare il sangue. Le operazioni sono state eseguite e rivendicate dall’Idf, che parla del “più grande attacco condotto contro le infrastrutture di Hezbollah”, sprezzante del cessate il fuoco in atto.
Anche l’esercito israeliano ha dovuto ammettere che la maggior parte degli obiettivi presi di mira si trovava “nel cuore delle aree abitate”. D’altronde per Netanyahu il cessate il fuoco sembra irrilevante, tanto che ha da subito sostenuto che non riguarda anche il Libano. Hezbollah, però, al contrario di Israele stamattina ha comunicato di aver sospeso il lancio di razzi.
Israele ha lanciato attacchi anche in altre zone del Libano, al Sud, tra Sidone e al-Qalila. Anche qui si parla di diverse vittime. Il premier libanese, Nawaf Salam, accusa Israele di aver ucciso civili disarmati in Libano e di aver attaccato aree densamente popolate, soprattutto a Beirut. E questi attacchi rischiano di avere conseguenze anche sul cessate il fuoco, considerando che l’ambasciatore iraniano alle Nazioni Unite ha affermato che Israele deve rispettare la tregua e che qualsiasi attacco può complicare la situazione e portare a contro-risposte.

Even the two-week ceasefire in Iran is not enough to appease Benjamin Netanyahu. On the first day of the truce, Israel intensified its attacks on Lebanon more than ever before. A wave of raids hit Beirut, with several districts of the city involved, from the center to the waterfront. And very populated areas as well.

Panic inevitably spread through the streets of the capital, with witnesses describing “apocalyptic scenes” of destroyed buildings and smoke columns rising in multiple points of the city. Israel doesn’t care about the ceasefire: Lebanon under siege

Rescue operations began in several areas of the city – with over one hundred ambulances mobilized by the Red Cross – and a call for the population to donate blood was also launched. Israel launched attacks in other areas of Lebanon, in the south, between Sidon and al-Qalila. Here too, there are reports of several victims. The Lebanese Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, accuses Israel of killing unarmed civilians in Lebanon and of attacking densely populated areas, especially in Beirut. And these attacks risk having consequences even on the ceasefire, considering that the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations has stated that Israel must respect the truce and that any attack could complicate the situation and lead to counter-responses.
