I'm still having a hard time settling on a theme for the A to Z #Blogging Challenge. So far I've started:

- Constellation myths (love it, but narratives are hard to find & not sure I can cover all letters)

- Folktales of emotions (Covers all letters, but hard to define)

- 26 days of #StorySpotting (needs 26 TV shows & movies)

- Folktales & songs (made a song list last year but nervous I'd misinterpret them)

- Tales of environmental disasters (tons of research)

Votes & thoughts welcome 😅

StorySpotting: The goddess under the ice (True Detective: Night Country)

StorySpotting is a series about folktales, tropes, references, and story motifs that pop up in popular media, from TV shows to video games...

By the way, I blogged about the Myanmar legend about the origin of rubies here:
http://multicoloreddiary.blogspot.com/2020/11/storyspotting-rubies-and-royalty-crown.html

This is also the origin story of the (in)famous Mogok ruby mines. It features a Naga princess who falls in love with the Sun, and three magic eggs, one of which bursts in Mogok and fills the land with rubies.

My first #StorySpotting article in a while!

In this series on my blog I write about folklore references that I caught in movies, TV shows, comics, etc.
This time, I spotted a fascinating creature from Dominican folklore in the procedural series "9-1-1":
