I'm looking for some user based opinions.

I want to test out a "NAS" OS to make the first steps to replace my synology boxes.

The three that I have on my radar at the moment are:

#CasaOS
#Start9
#Umbrel

I have a couple old laptops that have #proxmox installed where I will test out the options, but before I start to like one, I would love some feedback from the #fediverse #selfhosting #selfHosted #lazyweb

I should probably start backing up #DEFCON phone contacts I made. Probably going to be spinning up a new @nextcloud server for contacts, calendar, and stuff. Probably only going to locally host it at first on my #Start9 server on the @purism Librem Mini they sent me for a review, and see if I can connect it over @torproject to my homelab for now. I'll see eventually about possibly hosting it in clearnet down the road once I get #cloudflare tunnels figured out for myself #InfoSec #Cybersecurity
I have been tinkering with this #Start9 server live on #twitch. Call me thoroughly impressed with #StartOS. Burn after Reading alone is worth it! I can send ephemeral encrypted messages and files that get destroyed upon reading. Easily host #Tor webpages or #Nextcloud over Tor, I can make a #bitcoin or #monero node, even #Mastodon and #matrix with a click of a button. I highly recommend tinkering with this https://start9.com/ #infosec #cybersecurity #privacy #linux #opensource

Sovereign computing for a free future

#Start9 sent me their Server Pure for a review. They appear to be based on the @purism Librem Mini computers. Intel ME is disabled out of the box. I will have to tinker with this on #twitch tomorrow live but their StartOS seems to be great for those starting to do a #homelab and they are all about data sovereignty and you owning your data. It has options to setup #Mastodon and #Matrix out the box as well as #bitcoin and #monero nodes with #tor as well.

Just bought and starting using @start9labs #start9 private computer. It is very very interesting what this may mean for web 3.0 and future of self sovereign computing.
