But the point of #debian #stable is to be just that, and it isn't about the latest and greatest.

Often, the functionality of any software is not materially different between what #debian ships as the stable (but slowly getting older after the release) and what is available in the likes of #testing or #sid

And web browsers are updated under #debian-security, so they're not an issue.

If you want something with the latest software, accepting that can mean some small risks with stability or regressions, then don't choose #debian #stable. It's as simple as that, and deriding #debian #stable for anything other than what it's designed for seems a waste of your time, as nothing in that area will change.

You can add backports and also fastforward if you like, and you'll have newer software with some potential risk for stability reduction because it's not as well tested as a whole.
