It's fun to compare
#LLMs to
#Microsoft's ill-fated
#Clippy from the 90s. Microsoft implemented what they called assistants because the company CEO was boinking the person in charge of the project (literally โ look up Microsoft
#Bob and Melinda Gates).
Microsoft actually did focus groups and usability tests of the feature for
#Office, and people loved it: it provided helpful hints and made accessing Office's extensive help system. Microsoft then turned Clippy to 11, making it get in your way for fucking everything.
Microsoft didn't realize people liked it giving helpful tips occasionally but didn't want it to interrupt them all the time when working.
Watching them flail about making the same mistakes to
#pump market value smells the exact same a all the people arguing that the AI
#bubble is different from the crypto-bubble or the sub-prime bubble or the .com bubble or all the other bubbles.
It's the exact same, they make the same mistakes because they refuse to learn from well-established history, and they rationalize it because they value short-term gains over long-term prosperity.
