August, happily, turned out to be a decent #BoardGames month. I’m annoyed I got too busy on the 31st to fill in the last bit of the rectangle.
New games:
#Maquis lovely thematic solo game that I deffo need to play some more.
#SomethingWild quick card game that was more interesting than you’d expect since my friend won it from a 2p pusher amusement arcade machine, but very swingy
#Yahtzee well, the first time this made it into #BGStats but I played the hell out of it as a kid, it’s still fun
#SomethingWild, 1961, starring #CarrollBaker (#Lolita) is ultimately a perverse story with a wtf ending.
It's artistically and technically well done, but it's fundamentally a toxic mess that could have been an interesting psychological drama, instead.
A good thing is there are more #Black people naturally in the background than in most #movies and #tv #shows set in #NewYork today.
Also good to see familiar faces like #EdithStapleton, #DorisRoberts, and #CliftonJames in bit parts.
I finally saw #SomethingWild decades past it's theater release.
I was in junior high when it came out and then did not cross paths with it until now.
I loved it. A lot.
