Avalanche IV
Avalanche IV is actually the fifth and last in a series of images that I captured skiing at Snowbird in Utah.
Taken from the top of Snowbird I captured this sequence starting from the cornice blast to this concluding image.
This final image is one of my favorites from this sequence as it shows some scale to the whole event.
Here the avalanche is starting to settle.

Avalanche III
Avalanche III is now the fourth in the series of captures caught while skiing at Snowbird out in Utah in the Rocky Mountains.
Starting with the Cornice Blast where the ski patrol set off roughly 30 charges to blow a dangerous cornice from the ridge over looking the ski resort.
Avalanche III shows the snow coming off a cliff and fanning out in the bowl below the cliff.

Avalanche I
One of my passions that I have had since I was a young boy has been skiing. I learned on the small hills in the Midwest but have been skiing the Sierras and the Rocky Mountains for the last 35 years.
This was a man made avalanche as Snowbird ski resort ski patrol worked diligently to keep the mountain safe. A series of detonations at the top of a cornice set this one off.

I’t’s been so cold lately, I am trying NOT to read too much into the fact that some people call Dark-Eyed Juncos “Snowbirds”.
