This photo was captured on my most recent run, so it's jumping the queue of photos I still have to share from past runs. I didn't want to wait to share my thoughts about the new graffito on the footbridge at Mima Falls:

"ALL CIVILIZATIONS FALL"

That tag can feel cynical or nihilistic at first, but the more I think about it, the more it seems a prayer of hope to me.

All of our systems are designed on the principles of extraction, exploitation, and oppression. We are, all of us, coerced into driving this death machine. Our civilization isn't the Galactic Republic, it's the Sith Empire—and the Empire must fall if we're to have any hope of building something new, something better for all of us.

A State sign restricting access to a part of the Forest was the subject of my last post. Maybe the Forest *should* be managed carefully, for the better health of the Forest and all the life—human and non-human—that it supports; maybe that management shouldn't fall to a colonial government beholden to capitalists and invested in a system of extraction/exploitation.
