Just heard some horrific advice on the #SelfHostedPodcast that you shouldn't update your #software because there may be changes which involves #maintenance. Then they go on to suggest a closed source product because they've used closed source products before which makes it okay. 🤡 #opensource #security #selfhosted #podcast

#docker #linux #selfhosted #selfhostedpodcast So I’ve been listening a lot to the Self-Hosted Podcast and #NixOS keeps comming up. But after looking into it I don’t really see a benefit atleast for Docker containers. I have about 10 Docker Composes I manage and I don’t think I’ll benefit from NixOs there or am I wrong about this? I currently just have those composes on a Debian machine.

Long time JB listener here, heard you on #SelfHostedPodcast just today. :) Would love to hear more of the type of stuff you and Chris talk about on SelfHosted (but NC related), rather than all the "We interview CIO of Megacorp X about how they scale to ninety bajillion users using kubernetes!"

I'd rather hear about interesting new Nextcloud apps, getting all the new AI stuff up and running, hardening a home instance, introducing family+friends to Nextcloud etc.

@geerlingguy @LinusTech @jellyfin I’ve been a lifetime #plex Pass-er for many years now, but their shifts in focus recently really have put me off!

@ironicbadger inspired me to try it again during the #SelfhostedPodcast #JellfinJanuary and it’s been great!

Super impressed that I’ve got it running in a Proxmox LXC with pretty minimal hardware (2cores if a 9th Gen i5 and 8Gigs of RAM), media on NAS NFS share - it’s super responsive!
