Last week I flew a 20 TB hard drive up to Canada 🇨🇦, to see if I could outrun the Internet. And I did!
But I also got to help @seanhodgins set up a new 45Drives server, and we had a special guest show up to help via CRT! Watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0DEI4Ad7Ik
I tested WisdPi's 10G Ethernet Expansion Card for Framework computers.
Good news: It can hit 9.4 Gbps, in certain scenarios. And it'll be < $100.
Bad news: It uses USB-C and that means the combinations where it'll hit full speed are limited 🥲
Can you spot the ad integration? 😆
I'm fine with people skipping (i even add chapter markers for it). Time is valuable and if you don't want to sit through an ad read, it's no skin off my back.
One day we noticed a burning smell in the oven. It had code 'F2' and turned a batch of muffins into charcoal...
Because GE respected my right to repair my own appliance, I was able to debug and fix it! Quick 2nd channel video on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrjsTOjzYnQ
Apple *finally* added 'power on after power restore' in all cases (before it was just after hard shutdown), so it's easier to deploy Macs in headless / remote-first / homelab deployments.
Here's my video covering this feature, and the bug I found testing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9prKU2Vuo-0
I mentioned Sabrent's 8-port USB-C charger in a Level 2 Jeff video last year. It had a few annoyances but was overall my favorite multi-port charger so far...
Well they listened to feedback from our comments, and improved the firmware! Update video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twoAW0eLiXY

Today I disabled IPv6 on my home router entirely. There are (sadly) too many devices and services with obscure bugs when it's enabled, and I'm tired of playing whack-a-mole sysadmin just to keep a full IPv6 stack.
I'm not sure we'll ever see full IPv6 adoption.
It's 1998, you make a website in the copy of frontpage express that came with your computer, it's just like Word and it's very easy, you figure out how to upload it to the couple megs of web space that your ISP gives you (the instructions are on their website), you visit your site in your browser and everything's fine and the site's readable and everything looks the way it should
🦝 "Wow, if it's this easy in 1998, I bet it'll be even easier in 2026" you think to yourself for some reason
