Haven’t had a lot of interest in sewing outside work lately, but I have added a few new pieces to the #ThingsISewForFunAndNonprofit collection I have in my shop.

1st was an infinity scarf made from cut offs from knit tops I’ve altered. I’d been piecing them into blocks & tossing them in a box for a year or so.
A few weekends ago I pulled out a stash of sweater sleeves leftover from making pillows for a client several years ago. Cut those into 7” tall x 8-10” blocks, then sewed them into panels early last week. Today, I turned those into reversible cowl style neck warmers. #scrapfabric #sewing #upcycling

Inspired by an absolutely gorgeous crocheted witch hat I saw on Tumblr, I spent a few hours hand #stitching a tiny mock up of one made with pieced #scrapfabric from my stash. My cat Uno wasn’t being cooperative, so this little 6” bear took the modeling gig.

Gonna #sew another patch. I've just cut out the denim fabric and pinned it in place the white fabric is the pocket. I think the the different shades look fine I guess.

Need to find something to sew it to. I work in a charity shop and get denim-wear they can't sell and first dibs... they sell everything for around £1 so it's easy to find something. I'll put some on my depop next week!!

Las Vegas Shakedown trades! I traded for these patches from @MissMelaMay (Instagram) and sewed them on some thrifted pieces. On the tan one, I also sewed fabric (the sun/face) from some patchwork pants that I re-patched about a dozen times before they finally became unwearable. I’ll get a lot more patches/scrap fabric outta those.

Best part of this P4A for me so far was getting to explain it to some clients yesterday. They asked if N & I were doing anything special for Valentines, and I pointed to the 2024 P4A shirt I was wearing and told them we’d be staying home watching the livestream. They seemed interested, so I hope they went home and tuned in.

Here’s the art perk I contributed! They were made with #scrapfabric, recycled paperboard, and 3 layers of upholstery fabric from my stash of samples.

Project For Awesome 2025

Spent time at my shop yesterday since I needed to be home for the plumber today. I love days like this—except, of course, for the bill! While the plumber was doing his thing, I spent the morning working on my next batch of crafty sewing.

Once he was done and gone, I ran to the store and a took care of a few local errands. After putting away the groceries, I washed the produce, made myself a couple of lunch salads for the week, and I have food for several meals cooking for this week & to go in the freezer.

Whenever I can, I like to do the grocery and prep on a day N’s working instead of on the weekend. If he’s down the hall in his office, he can’t really hear all the noise from the kitchen, so it doesn’t break his flow. On the weekend he’s just on the other side of a wall and the extra noise tends to ramp up his anxiety. We also don’t spend the day going “what?”, “did you say something?”, or “hang on, I can’t hear you”. 😅

After working in the yard this morning, I took some time—about 4 hours—to play in my home #sewing room. These floral bits of #scrapfabric have been hanging out in my stash for years! The fabric for the dress forms and background came out of the stash of home decorator samples that I’ve been making bags from.

I still need to attach hanging ribbons and cover the back, but I’m so pleased how they turned out!

After doing the bulk of my year end bookkeeping, I spent a few days of my year end break using up fabric panels I’ve made over the past year or two. I did the majority of the totes on Saturday, finishing them, the small zip pouches, and the pillows yesterday. After the pillows, I pulled my boxes of interlock/jersey scrap and started trimming them for a future project idea. Today I finished the trimming, tidied my stash cabinet, and completed an apron from that particular WIP box. I had already loaded the completed things in my car before realizing I didn’t snap a pic of the apron 🤷‍♀️

More details about the totes and pillows, are over on my Tumblr if anyone is interested. #Sewing #ScrapFabric

A New Old Hobby

I’ve been on vacation, and have spent a few days making use of fabric I pieced and set aside over the past year or two. First up is some totes and zip pouches. These were made using some of the sam…

#introduction. Hi, I’m ‘chele. Self-employed clothing alterationist & #cat servant. I spend the majority of my time away from my shop napping, reading social media & the occasional book, or playing a few different video games.

I also enjoy a bit of gardening while the weather is nice, indoor plants, and #sewing /making things from the abundance of #scrapfabric generated in my alterations shop or gifted me by others. Podcasts and YouTube are my constant workday companions.

Here are some of those projects

I’ve been wanting to donate an art perk for #p4a for a number of years, but never really had an idea I liked well enough. I’m thinking about submitting recycled #scrapfabric zip pouches this year, but am not sure the value is in the ideal range. #nerdfighters, what do you think?
