I’m super grateful to the Scout Leaders for the planning, organising and running the Camp. And for inviting the Cubs. Also for the parents who came to help.
I made myself useful where I could, be that keeping the toilets clean or helping the youngsters with the paracord and leather woggle making.
And I finally had my first S’more!
Last weekend was our Cub & Scout Camp. The first joint residential event since I started.
The first evening was mostly about getting settled in.
The next day our Young People made paracord items, did leather work (woggle making) and had sessions of tomahawks and archery.
That evening we had a campfire with songs & S’mores. Each night had wide games in the dark.
The final morning was basically packing up, so naturally it rained for a bit.
I just found a photo collage of my first Scout Camp. Not featuring me, or photos taken by me…but I was present.
It feels like an age ago.
Though I’ve still not been to that many Camps & I still feel like a Newbie in that respect.
It’s probably not just because there have been so few I had the chance to attend, but because they have been so “relaxed” since. That first Camp had the Young People making Camp Gadgets, seemed more “traditional” & had more ceremony.
