It's a sad state of affairs. My sympathies.
I only did Cub Scouts and Webelos.
I lost 'faith' in Scouting on seeing the organization's reaction to having gay scouts/scoutmasters back in the 2000s. That's when I realized just how much of a religiously/church run and controlled organization it really was.
I'm not sure Scouting is as much caving to extremist christianity as embracing it. But that's semantics.

Scouting for me has proven invaluable as an adult. The problem solving, the leadership skills, the ability to adapt, and most importantly: how to be a true citizen in a global community.
Scouting made the decision to embrace the dogma of the current administration and cave to the extremist Christian running the Department of Defense. But part of me held out hope that they would stay true to the new vision and not fall back into an old pattern that promoted intolerance, and exclusion.
It is with a heavy heart that I formally renounce my Eagle Scout award.
Baden Powell said “There is no teaching to compare with example.” As such I am formerly renouncing my Eagle Scout and returning the patch and the medal to Scouting. TO be clear I am not leaving scouting, scouting left me. I will always remember my time in Troop and Post 153, San Carlos, California but no longer wish to be part of an organization that folds on its core values without even a fight

The Pentagon has made a deal with Scouting America that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says would maintain their century-old partnership but refocus the organization away from “woke” policies. Hegseth put heavy emphasis on Scouting America’s acceptance of transgender youth, saying Friday that the organization will require members to use their “biological sex at birth and not gender identity.” But Scouting America President and CEO Roger Krone told The Associated Press that the agreement doesn't change existing policies regarding transgender youth and that they are welcome. Several of the negotiated changes mirror what the organization suggested to the Pentagon last month, including adding or losing some badges and waiving registration fees for the children of military personnel.

Siendo de tradiciones paganas, mi convivencia con diversos grupos del movimiento Scout ha resultado en una grata experiencia de camaradería y respeto que trasciende las etiquetas sociales o religiosas que suelen fragmentar la vida cotidiana. Al compartir el entorno del campismo, el intercambio de conocimientos sobre supervivencia y vida al aire libre se convirtió en el lenguaje común que facilitó una aceptación absoluta entre todos los presentes. En estos espacios de convivencia, al fuego de una fogata, la tolerancia no es una teoría académica, sino una práctica tangible donde el apoyo mutuo en las tareas del campamento borra cualquier jerarquía o prejuicio previo, permitiendo que la identidad individual se manifieste con total libertad.
Como persona de tradiciones paganas, encontré un eco profundo y reconfortante en el cumplimiento de su cuarta ley, la cual establece que "el Scout es amigo de todos y hermano de cualquier otro, sin distinción de credo, raza, nacionalidad o clase social". Ver este principio aplicado, donde mis tradiciones no fueron un obstáculo sino una faceta más de la diversidad del grupo, refuerza la validez de estos espacios como refugios de verdadera fraternidad. La gratificación de esta experiencia no radica solo en el aprendizaje e intercambio de las técnicas de campo, sino en la confirmación de que es totalmente posible construir comunidades basadas en el respeto recíproco y la unidad, sin que las diferencias de tradiciones supongan una división en el trato humano.

¿Sabían que Robert Baden-Powell, fundador del Movimiento Scout en 1908, diseñó las bases del escultismo basándose en sus experiencias militares de reconocimiento y supervivencia durante el sitio de Mafeking en la Segunda Guerra Bóer?
En 1899, ante la escasez de soldados, Baden-Powell organizó un cuerpo de cadetes compuesto por jóvenes locales para realizar tareas de mensajería, vigilancia y transporte de heridos. La eficacia de estos jóvenes, que demostraron disciplina y recursos bajo presión, le llevó a redactar el manual "Aids to Scouting" (Ayudas para el Escultismo), originalmente destinado a la formación de soldados, pero que inesperadamente se convirtió en un éxito de ventas entre educadores y jóvenes civiles en Gran Bretaña.
Tras notar este interés, Baden-Powell reescribió sus principios militares hacia un enfoque educativo y pacífico en su obra "Scouting for Boys" (Escultismo para muchachos), publicada tras realizar el primer campamento experimental en la isla de Brownsea en 1907 con 20 jóvenes de distintas clases sociales. Celebrating the incredible legacy of Lord Robert Baden-Powell and the life-changing impact of Scouting. From its humble beginnings on Brownsea Island in 1907 to a global movement of over 57 million members, Scouting continues to inspire, challenge, and empower young people around the world.
I dabbled in Cubs and Scouts in my youth but never very serious but, as an adult, I've found it to be the perfect blend of community service and youth work.
I'm proud to be involved with Scouting and hope to continue for many years to come.
